Della Rice was founded in 1986 by Lehman Fowler of Brinkley, Arkansas, under the name Della Gourmet Rice. After his retirement in 1994, the Ajmera Family acquired the business, expanded it nationwide, and introduced the organic product line now sold as Yoga Organic Rice.

Since 2020, Della has been proudly owned and operated by Stephen and Micah Hilsdon, both born and raised in Brinkley. With deep roots in the rice industry, they took ownership of Specialty Rice to preserve local jobs and uphold Della’s long-standing values. Stephen began as General Manager in 2006, later joined by Micah as Quality Manager.

We Are Family Owned

Specialty Rice Inc. is still a family-owned business, run by Stephen and Micah Hilsdon of Brinkley, Arkansas. They both are from this town and have been in the rice industry and the community their whole lives.

They’re so proud to call Brinkley home. When the opportunity arose to purchase the company, their decision was driven by one clear purpose: protect local jobs and keep the business rooted in Brinkley. The employees of Specialty Rice are more than coworkers, they are friends, neighbors, and extended family.

Preserving those jobs meant preserving livelihoods, supporting families, and sustaining the local economy. Carrying forward the legacy of Della Rice was not just a business decision, but a personal commitment to the people who helped build it.
